He was just her new maths teacher. Calm yet strict. Controlled. Annoying. Impossible to understand. And she? The only student in class who never stayed quiet in front of him. Their first meeting was a complete disaster. One argument. One misunderstanding. Instant dislike. She thought he was arrogant. He thought she talked too much. And somehow, from that very day, they kept getting on each other’s nerves. She hated him for absolutely no reason. Maybe it was the way he always stayed so unreadable. Maybe it was the way he irritated her. Or maybe she simply hated how easily he noticed things about her that others didn’t. But things became strange when the new maths teacher started paying attention only to her answers in an entire classroom full of students. Even after scoring the highest marks, her paper was the only one returned covered in red ink. “Your presentation could’ve been better.” That was his excuse. But if she irritated him so much, then why was he always expecting more from her than everyone else? Why did he keep giving her responsibilities no one else had? Why did his behaviour around her feel so different from the rest of the class? And most importantly… Why did she start noticing it too? Somewhere between arguments, long eye contacts, unfinished conversations, extra responsibilities, and the silent competition between them… something started changing. Not love. Not yet. Just a strange connection neither of them understood. Then one day, he got transferred. And for the first time, the classroom felt empty. The same classroom that once felt suffocating because of him now felt unbearably silent without him in it. The girl who once searched for reasons to hate him suddenly found herself remembering everything. The way he explained maths without even looking at the book. The way his eyes silently searched for her answers first. The hidden pride in his eyes whenever she solved something difficult before everyone else. The way he treated her differently, even when he tried not to. And for the first time, she questioned something she never wanted to admit: Was he really treating her differently all along? She only wished for one thing now — that maybe, somehow, he would return. But some people return only after they’ve already changed you completely. And just when she finally accepted that maybe some people leave before you understand what they truly meant to you… He finally came back… nothing between them remained the same anymore. Not the silence between them. Not the way they looked at each other. Not the feelings they were still trying to ignore. Because this time, it no longer felt like just a teacher and a student standing in the same classroom. It felt like two unfinished stories finding their way back to each other. A slow-burn story filled with tension, nostalgia, unspoken emotions, memories, and the kind of connection that quietly enters your life… before becoming impossible to forget.
